The Beluluane Industrial Park and Free Zone located just 16 km outside of Maputo City, is a partnership between the State of Mozambique and the company, Chiefton Moçambique.
We have over 700 hectares of land, some of which is already serviced with infra-structure to light industry.
All-weather roads provide access to the Port of Maputo (just 20 km away) where professional maritime services are available.
The BIP is strategically situated on the backbone of the Maputo Corridor, linking Mozambique to South Africa and Swaziland. The Park is located on the N4 highway that links Maputo to South Africa’s economic heartland, i.e. Nelspruit, Witbank, Johannesburg, and Pretoria.
The Free Zone is set to become the premier location in Southern Africa to conduct export oriented and general industry business.
Located centrally within the BIP is Mozal, an aluminium smelter whose shareholders include BHP Billiton, Mitsubishi Corporation, the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa and the Mozambican government. Mozal came on stream in Q4 2000 at a cost of US $1.2 billion and now boasts an investment of over US $2 billion.
Business set up in the Park will have the opportunity to bid for the supply of goods and services to Mozal as tenders are let and re-let over time. Other opportunities abound for exporters to economically produce goods, or add value to goods, for shipment to export destinations and to customers within Mozambique.
The Government of Mozambique is offering generous exemptions on customs duties and tax breaks to businesses setting up in the BIP. Combine this with a cost effective, reliable, local labour force and low operational overheads and exporters will have a major financial edge when competing with markets around the world. |
